Wednesday – Bringing Back the Old Gothic Scene?

From social media trends to spooky new dance moves, are all these new or has the dark Netflix series brought back the original goths?

Wednesday is a Netflix TV programme released on Wednesday the 23rd of November 2022 and was themed on the original Addams Family films. It attracted a massive fan base of 150 million households and 1.02 billion hours total viewed.

Netflix portrayed Wednesday as having more modern Gothic style, with dark makeup and some glamorous outfits, unlike the original series, which portrayed Wednesday as having a prep-Goth style, but still being a classic gothic character.

Wednesday has also brought upon a new theme of social media trends, such as trying to mimic Wednesday’s style, bringing out a lot more of the original goths, and ‘that dance’ (which has been viewed over 20 million times on YouTube), adding a funny side on the normal goth traditions.

The actress playing Wednesday, Jenna Ortega, who played a part in Yes Day, Iron Man 3, Scream and X, already had a large fanbase transferring that audience towards Wednesday and lots of other films & TV programmes.

It is definite that Wednesday has had a very large impact on the world and has made a lot of people attempt to follow her style and emotions, bringing back the old Trad-Goth style back to our world!
